About the event
Portugal’s wines are far more than Port and Madeira. In this class, we’ll explore how a landscape of wild coastlines, granite hills, and centuries-old vineyards produces some of the most characterful wines in Europe. We’ll begin with the crisp freshness of Vinho Verde, travel south to the schist terraces of the Douro for dry red and white wines made from Port grapes, and finish with the complexity of Madeira—Portugal’s enduring island treasure. Along the way we’ll taste lesser-known table wines that show why Portugal has become one of the most exciting sources of value and diversity in the wine world.
Event begins at 5:45 with a short reception to get settled before class starts at 6:00. Each session blends education, entertainment, and conversation around six to seven distinctive wines, paired with a small palate-cleansing bite. End time varies, but all wines will be poured and discussed by 7:15.
